Frequently Asked Questions

Why do some backups use .bkor instead of .zip?

If encryption is enabled, Backora encrypts backup bundles and stores them as .bkor. Disable encryption to store normal ZIP files.

Can I store backups locally and remotely at the same time?

Yes. Choose destination Both to save to local server storage and OCI in one operation.

What happens if I change Backup Folder Name?

New backups use the new local folder and OCI prefix. Existing backups are not moved automatically.

Does retention delete locked backups?

No. Locked backups are skipped by retention cleanup and require manual unlock + delete.

Which timezone is used for names and schedule display?

Backora uses WordPress-configured time for naming and UI display; schedule storage is maintained in UTC internally.

Why do email notifications fail on some hosts?

Many hosts do not reliably support raw PHP mail. Configure an SMTP plugin and test email delivery first.

What is the difference between Backup Browser and Diff Viewer?

Backup Browser inspects one backup’s contents. Diff Viewer compares two backups and highlights file/plugin/theme/schema changes.

Will uninstall always delete all backups?

No. Full removal occurs only when Purge on Uninstall is enabled in Settings.

Should I test restore on production first?

No. Always validate restore on staging before any production incident.
