Install and Activate Backora

  1. Zip the plugin root.
  2. Upload in Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.
  3. Activate Backora.
  4. Open Backora in the wp-admin left menu.
If activation fails, verify PHP version compatibility and refresh plugin assets after update.

Configure OCI Object Storage

  1. Go to Backora > Settings.
  2. Fill: namespace, region, bucket, access key, secret key.
  3. Set optional Backup Folder Name (used as OCI prefix + local folder).
  4. Click Save Settings.
  5. Click Test Connection.
Use OCI Customer Secret Key credentials. Standard OCI API key PEM credentials are not valid in this S3-compatible flow.

Create Your First Production Backup

  1. Open Backup & Restore.
  2. Select Full WordPress Backup.
  3. Choose destination: Local, OCI, or Both.
  4. Review estimated backup size, then click Start Backup.
  5. Wait for progress to reach 100% and confirm in logs.
  6. Lock this backup if it is your baseline snapshot.

Validate Restore Before You Need It

  1. Clone site to staging.
  2. Open Backup & Restore and select a backup.
  3. Run restore.
  4. Verify front-end pages, wp-admin login, and plugin functionality.
  5. Record recovery time and steps for incident playbook.
Run restore validation regularly (monthly minimum) to ensure backups remain usable.

Set Up Automated Schedules

  1. Go to Schedules.
  2. Set name, frequency, backup type, destination, and scope.
  3. For custom schedules, define custom interval and start date/time.
  4. Save schedule and confirm next run time.
  5. Use Run now once to validate behavior.
Recommended baseline:
- Daily: full WordPress backup
- Hourly/Custom: incremental backup for critical sites
- Weekly: local + OCI full backup (locked)
